Windows 7 was discontinued on 14 January 2020. This means that Microsoft stopped providing security updates or other support.

However, it is important to note that as of 14 January 2020, Microsoft no longer support Windows 7. This means that Microsoft no longer rolls out security updates for Windows 7. This means that Windows 7 is no longer safe to use and may become compromised.
Alternatively, with appropriate security measures in place to minimise the risks, Windows 7 Pro can still be used. These include:
  • Installing a virus scanner and firewall
  • Avoiding unfamiliar websites and downloads
  • Backing up important data

Retrieving and activating the product key/key

You need a legally purchased licence to activate a product key. You can activate the operating system via the PC control panel in the system settings using the key provided.
