Advanced infrastructure: The features at a glance

Microsoft has made it a top priority to continually improve the performance of its Windows servers. In line with this, Microsoft has optimised the following areas in latest version of Windows Server 2022:
  • Security: New security features to help protect businesses from cyber attacks. These include:
    • Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) that enhance the security of login credentials and other sensitive data.
    • Virtualisation-Based Security (VBS) that enhances the security of applications and services in virtual machines.
    • Firmware protection, which improves the computer's security against attacks on the firmware.
  • Performance: Microsoft Windows Server 2022 is optimised for use in today's data centres.
    • Support for new processors and memory technologies.
    • Networking and storage performance improvements.
    • Containers and microservice execution optimisations.
  • Scalability: Integration of new features that improve the scalability of applications and services.
    • Support for more virtual machines and containers.
    • Improvements in the performance and throughput of resource intensive applications.
    • Support for emerging technologies including Azure Stack HCI and Kubernetes.
There are also some minor differences between the versions of the operating system, for example:
Windows Server 2022 includes new features that are not available in Windows Server 2016 and 2019:
  • Support for running Windows containers inside Linux VMs.
  • Support for Azure Arc, a technology that allows you to manage and protect Windows Server instances in on-premises data centres as if they were running in Azure.
  • Support for running Windows Server applications on Azure.
  • Support for running Windows containers on Linux VMs in Windows Server 2022
At the same time, some features available in Windows Server 2016 and 2019 have been removed:
  • Support for running Windows Server 2008 applications.
  • Support for using IPv4 tunnels for IPv6.
  • Support for running Windows Server applications in virtual machines with less than 4 GB RAM.

Windows Server 2022 Editions

VENDOSOFT offers Microsoft Windows Server 2022 licences for both the Standard and Datacenter Editions.
Windows Server Standard 2022:
  • Single physical server licensing
  • Viable solution for organisations with limited virtual machine needs
Windows Server Datacenter 2022:
  • Larger range of features than the Standard Edition
  • Single socket/processor core licensing
  • Viable solution for organisations with an unlimited virtual machine need or the additional features of the Datacenter Edition.

Windows Server 2022 can be used legally with core licensing. The cost is based on the number of cores and processors the software is running on. This can result in significant licensing costs for organisations with a large number of cores in their servers.
We will be happy to advise you on the right solution for your needs.

Purchase pre-owned Windows Server 2022 licences from VENDOSOFT

There are a number of reasons why you should purchase a pre-owned Windows Server 2022 licence:
  • Cost savings: Pre-owned software products are typically cheaper than new products. Allowing you to save up to 70 % or more.
  • Flexibility: Pre-owned licences can be a great way to add flexibility to your IT infrastructure. You can purchase the exact licences you need today, then upgrade or customise them later as your requirements change.
  • Sustainability: A pre-owned licence is a more sustainable choice than a new licence.
If you are considering purchasing a pre-owned Microsoft Windows Server licence, there are a number of things you should be aware of:
  • It is important to make sure that the licences you are purchasing are genuine and legitimate. Resellers of pre-owned licences are plenty, but not all of them are trustworthy.
  • It is important to make sure that the Edition meets for your requirements. Make sure you purchase the right Edition (Datacenter or Standard) and the right number of access licences.
  • Make sure you find a reliable reseller. Read reviews and ask for legally compliant documentation before you make your choice. Compare prices, but do not be fooled by cheap deals!
