Installation instructions for all Microsoft Office (also Visio + Project)
Microsoft changed the installation process with the 2019 product version of its desktop applications.
Instead of using the previous ISO files, the installation is now carried out using the Office Deployment Tool and an XML file that defines the installation parameters. To simplify this installation process, we’ll give you a setup file along with your licence documents, which automates this installation process using the most common settings.
If you want to personalise your settings, you can also perform the installation manually.
To do so, proceed as described in the following instructions. This is based on Microsoft’s information from:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/ltsc/2024/deploy
You can also use the explanatory video to install Office 2019 on Microsoft operating systems. Created by Alexander Kreitner, licence expert at VENDOSOFT GmbH.
Step 1
Create your configuration file using the Microsoft Office customisation tool found here:
https://config.office.com/deploymentsettings
Once you have adjusted your settings, click “Export” at the top right, agree to the licence terms and enter “configuration” as the file name.
Step 2
Download the latest version of the Office Deployment Tool:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117
Step 3
Run the file and extract it to a desired folder. You can also create a new one.
Step 4
There you’ll find three sample .xml files that you can delete.
Move the configuration.xml file that you downloaded in step 2 into the folder.
Step 5
Start command prompt as administrator
Step 6
Navigate to the path of the folder specified earlier >>cd C:[IhrOrdnerpfad]
Step 7
Now run the following command >> setup /download configuration.xml
If you get error code “0-1007 (0)” (or other “1007” errors), you need to allow “officecdn.microsoft.com” and “officecdn.microsoft.com.edgesuite.net” in your firewall or network policy, as these can block the download from the Microsoft server.
Step 8
The required installation files will now be downloaded. Meanwhile, the cursor blinks in the command line.
Once the download is complete, the prompt will jump to the next line. This will take up to an hour depending on your Internet connection.
Step 9 (optional)
When the download is complete and the next line requests a command, type > setup /configure configuration.xml
Step 10
Your Office will now be installed.
You’ll receive a message as soon as the installation is complete.
If necessary, you then need to perform the activation. If you don’t receive an activation notice when starting an Office application (e.g. Word), select “File” – “Account” – “Change product key” and enter the product key in the fields displayed.
